What Does the Death of Christ Mean to you?

Day Four: The Gift of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Holy trinity; God the father, God the son and God manifest himself to us in this three ways. The Holy Spirit is the gift of God’s spirit to us through the death and resurrection of Christ, when Jesus Christ was going to live the earth he proclaimed the gift of the Holy Spirit, which was manifested in the Acts of Apostle on the day of Pentecosts. The Holy Spirit is an intercessor, a guardian and a counselor, the Holy Spirit does what Christ would have done in his physical form, it is Gods spirit living inside us. the Holy Spirit bears witness of Christ, of who Christ is and what he has done for us.

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:16-18

What the Holy Spirit does

The Holy spirit convict

The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin, the presence of the Holy Spirit convicts us when we sin, it makes us see how sinful we are and the need to reconcile with the father. The Holy Spirit helps us to live with the consciousness of sin. The Holy Spirit does not just convict us and leave us to suffer with our guilt and shame: the Holy Spirit helps us to overcome our sin because on our own we cannot defeat the power of sin but the Holy Spirit quicken our bodies and mind to resist and defeat sin.

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.

John 16:7-8

The Holy Spirit Intercedes

We all have times we feel weak and don’t know what to do. The Holy Spirit helps us line up with God’s will during those times by interceding for us. For our human flesh does not know how to please the father but the Holy Spirit intercede for us, even in our communication with God through prayer, the Holy Spirit teaches what to pray and how we should pray even through the gift of tongues the Holy Spirit intercede for us.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27

The Holy Spirit is a Counselor

The Holy Spirit is also a counselor, it instructs us on what to do and what not to do, the presence of the Holy Spirit direct us on the right path of our life in things like marriage, Jobs, Appointments, where to go and what is sin or not. The Holy Spirit brings to action grace, because the Holy Spirit makes things easy for us, for if we know the right way to go we wont be going about doing trial and error. for example if you are writing an exam, the Holy Spirit may counsel you and direct you on topics to focus on, that way you don’t have to read the entire course, which would yield you focus and more efficiency.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.

John 16:13-15

The Holy Spirit Protect

The Holy Spirit is our defender, he fights our spiritual battles for us, he fights things or forces of Darkness that we might not see. The Holy Spirit also protect and deliver us from physical enemies,so we know the we don’t need to fight battles physically but through the Holy spirit.

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places…

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith…the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians. 6:11-12 & 14-17

The Holy Spirit Teaches and Reveal God’s Wisdom and Truth

The Holy Spirit is a great teacher, it teaches how to study Gods word properly and effectively, through the Holy Spirit Gods plans for us are brought to light. while we study the word is the Holy Spirit that explain the word to us, God desires we know him and become like him, through the Holy Spirit god helps us to know him and through our knowledge we become like him; full of wisdom and truth of his words.

“The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you

John 14:26

The Holy Spirit reveals the promises we are entitle to and the power we have in Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit open our eyes to our inheritance in Christ and what the death of Jesus Christ has done for us. The Holy Spirit also provides the gifts of the spirit to help us live more effectively in him, through him we have access to power, revelation and wisdom in God.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 1:17-20

Holy Spirit Enable us to Bear the Fruits of the Spirit.

When the spirit of God lives in us we begin to bear his fruits in our life, people begin to notice the difference in us. It is not easy to posses the fruits of the spirit but through the Holy Spirit we can bear this fruits, he teaches how to love, be patience, persevere, joyfulness, kindness, make peace with men and have self control…

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Galatians 5:16-18 & vs 22-23

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Acts 4:31

Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers to renew, sanctify, and make us holy. Just as the Holy Spirit raised Christ from the dead, the Holy Spirit will give eternal life to believers in Christ.

But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:10-11

In conclusion, realizing the gift of the Holy Spirit helps us to know our position at every point in time in God’s kingdom. it helps us to know that we are not just followers or slave to God but are sons.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father…
